If you go on the reservation and need to ask permission for something, it's an elder you must talk to. The younger leaders ask advice and listen to the words that come from the members of the tribe who have seen and know much. In fact, the word elder is one of reverence and high regard among the Sioux. I met this man when I was in South Dakota and
